FAQs

Lombok

  • Lombok is great year-round but the best months are May to October, during the dry season. Expect sunny days, calm roads and perfect conditions for surfing and exploring.
    The rainy season (November–April) is still warm, with short tropical showers.

  • Yes. Lombok is considered safe and friendly for solo travellers. As always, take normal travel precautions, especially at night or when riding a scooter.

  • The most common way is by scooter. Kuta is spread out and beaches, cafés, and surf spots are easier to reach on two wheels. We provide bike rental at the guesthouse as well as taxi service in case you prefer not to drive yourself.

  • Yes. We can help arrange airport pick-up, private drivers or scooter rentals through our trusted partners.

  • Yes! We are located close to the main road with many cafés, restaurants, shops and the main Kuta area — all within a few minutes’ drive.

  • Lombok is predominantly a Muslim island. We kindly ask our guests to dress and behave respectfully, especially when visiting local villages, mosques or public places. Showing consideration for local customs helps ensure a positive experience for everyone.

  • Absolutely. Lombok has many beginner-friendly spots with gentle waves and soft sand bottoms, making it one of the best places in Indonesia to learn safely.

  • Surfing works year-round, but the most consistent season is June to September. The wet season offers smaller, fun waves — perfect for beginners and intermediates.

  • Swimwear, sunscreen, a towel and water. We provide board, leash, rash guard and all equipment.

  • No. The water is warm all year. Booties are optional and generally not needed for the spots we visit.

  • We surf around Tanjung Aan, Gerupuk, Selong Belanak, Are Guling, Awang, and other spots depending on conditions and your level.

  • Each session is around 2 hours in the water. Including transport, total time varies between 2.5–4 hours.

  • Times depend on tides, swell, and wind. We check conditions daily and let you know the best time the day before your lesson.

  • Generally no — the conditions decide. Our instructor will choose the safest and most suitable spot based on your level.

  • We surf multiple beaches across Lombok depending on the day’s conditions and your skill level.

  • Yes, depending on availability and surf conditions. Let us know in advance and we’ll check with our instructor.

  • Yes, we provide transport to the beach and boat rides to the surf spot when needed.

  • Yes. Basic swimming skills are required for safety reasons.

  • We normally offer small group sessions (max. 2 students per teacher). Private lessons are available on request.

  • Surf packages and surf lessons are available throughout most of the year. However, during New Year week, the end of Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr), and MotoGP event week, we do not offer surf packages or surf lessons due to high demand and local events.

staying at Secret spot

  • Check-in is from 2 PM, check-out until 11 AM. You are welcome to relax in the common area or leave your bags before/after your stay.

  • Breakfast is included for all private rooms and the dormitory.
    It is not included for the studio-apartment, as it has its own kitchen.

  • We have a common area with a big kitchen and a fridge for our guests to use. Please don’t use the kitchen at our breakfast hours from 7.30 - 10.30am and clean the dishes after using them.

  • We don’t offer laundry in-house, but there are many affordable laundry services nearby.

  • Yes, all rooms have hot showers and AC.

  • Yes, we offer refill stations — please bring your reusable bottle.

  • Yes, with good Wi-Fi and multiple chill areas, many guests work during their stay. Each of the private rooms has also a working desk with a chair. The speed of our internet is 150mbps.

    Please note, that we are located on an island here in Indonesia, it can happen that there might be power cuts or slower connection at one point.

  • Absolutely! We can help you arrange surf lessons, skate lessons, snorkeling trips, waterfalls tours and more.
